Fostering a
Future of
Moderation

At SAB, we believe that beer brings people together. We say cheers to celebrate life’s most memorable moments. However, the harmful consumption of alcohol remains an issue of concern – one felt by governments, communities and SAB as an alcohol producer.

We want to be a part of a sociable world where alcohol is consumed responsibly and beer is the natural choice for the moderate drinker. Through Prosper, we hope to realise this goal.

Responsible
Trader
Programme

A vital facet of SAB’s service delivery is responsible alcohol trade. Launched in 2011, SAB’s Responsible Trader Programme (RTP) works with licenced outlets to make them trade more responsibly and become active in the fight against alcohol abuse.Alcohol-related issues can have catastrophic effects on families, businesses and communities, but they can also be avoided. SAB encourages all traders to adopt responsible alcohol trade and educate their patrons on the consequences of their actions – both socially and from a health perspective.

Tackling the
challenges of
drunk driving

In South Africa, the rate of drunk driving is extremely high when compared to the global average. The National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders (NICRO) has joined forces with SAB and Arrive Alive in a unique alcohol and road offences initiative geared towards addressing drunk driving and reducing the burden on the formal criminal justice system. One such initiative is a dedicated 24-hour hotline to assist South African DUI offenders who are at least 18 years of age and help them gain access to immediate, critical support and possible inclusion into NICRO interventions such as counselling and community service – as a possible alternative to incarceration.

Join The
fight against
undersage
drinking

SAB believes that it is not okay for underage youths to drink alcohol, under any circumstances. The 18+ campaign is a call to action for adults to be role models and have open and honest conversations about alcohol with their children. The message is clear: Speak to our youth about alcohol before alcohol speaks to them. As a leading alcoholic beverage company in South Africa, SAB takes responsible drinking and the fight against alcohol abuse very seriously.
