HAPPY 100TH MADIBA

Nelson Mandela reminded us that each person has the potential to change the world, or at least have an impact on it. We’re lucky to be in a country with people who are filled to the brim with potential, but this potential means nothing if there is no opportunity to live up to it. Which is why we want to do our bit in helping combat one of the biggest problems facing our continent; hunger.

On Mandela day, we remembered the 67 years that Madiba gave to fight for social injustice in South Africa, by giving back 67 minutes to a cause that we stand for.

So how did we decide to use our 67 minutes?

Malnutrition kills more people in Africa than HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria combined. What’s more is that up to 40% of the drop-out rate of first year University students can be attributed to hunger.

In collaboration with Stop Hunger,  approximately 1000 SAB employees across the country participated in helping SHNSA achieve its target of packaging 1000 000 meals. These meals are distributed to NGOs and university students across S.A. SAB employees participated in over 9 different locations across South Africa to help package these healthy, nutritious and vitamin enriched meals.

It’s not too late to make your mark in honour of Nelson Mandela. All it takes is 67 minutes of doing good for a cause that you believe in. After all, it has been 100 years since Nelson Mandela was born and his legacy needs to live on through us.
