HUMAN RIGHTS – THE BASIC FOUNDATION OF GOOD BUSINESS IN SOUTH AFRICA

The South African Breweries (SAB) and AB InBev Africa is today celebrating Human Rights Day, along with the rest of the country, through a renewed commitment to protect and advance the rights of others in all of its business dealings.

“Human Rights Day is a day that calls for us as a company to reflect on the rights of others and the important responsibility we have as one of the leading private companies in South Africa and the rest of the continent to protect these, irrespective of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, whether they are foreign nationals or not. SAB believes that human rights apply to everyone equally and the foundation of good business.

“This Human Rights Day, we also reflect on the extraordinary cost paid in our country’s past for the human rights preserved and protected in our Constitution, one of the most progressive in the world”,” says Doreen Kosi, Vice President Legal and Corporate Affairs, SAB and AB InBev Africa.

At SAB and AB InBev Africa, our Global Human Rights Policy sets out the standards, expectations and commitments in terms of our responsibility to respect and promote human rights within our company and to not knowingly contribute to the violations of human rights by others.

“The values of human dignity, equality and freedom that are enshrined in our Bill of Rights are also the values that form the foundation on which we will build the company based on our dream to be the ideal company. Our success is deeply connected to the wellbeing of our people, suppliers, contractors, retailers and consumers.

“Making sure that we as a company keep our promise to uphold the rights of others is a commitment that starts with each employee and the decisions that we make each day,” says Kosi.
