Leading The Way In Tackling Alcohol Abuse

Alcohol Abuse Prevention

Our SAB alcohol abuse prevention strategy – the SAB Responsible Alcohol Strategy – is focused on 3 key areas:

  • Leading by example
    • Certain regulations and stipulations have been put in place internally to help employees lead the way as good examples for other South Africans
  • Championing co-regulation
    • Making advances in the regulation of the industry by partnering and collaborating with the government
  • Investing in high-impact programmes
    • We stand behind a number of captivating campaigns that have gripped the community and made a statement in the following areas:
      • Underage Drinking – You Decide campaign
      • Foetal Alcohol Syndrome – sponsorship of research conducted by FARR (Foundation for Alcohol Related Research)
      • Drinking & Driving campaigns

Incidentally, we achieved a joint top score of 4.7/5 in the SABMiller Group for Encouraging Responsible Drinking, representing international leading edge practice.

By driving awareness to all the above projects and by getting all SAB employees involved, we’re already positively influencing problems faced by the industry. Read more about what we’re doing within the community and within SAB itself to promote responsible alcohol consumption in South Africa.
