Johannesburg

Johannesburg Festival of Beer

Date: 6th to 8th September 2013

Venue: Pirates Rugby Club, Braeside

The Festival of Beer comes to the City of Gold in September as the Joburg Festival of Beer, where craft beer loving Joburgers too will be able to enjoy plenty of good beer, great food and live entertainment. Expect a taste of over 200 beers from local and international craft, micro and mega brewers. This festival will feature food and beer pairings, guided beer tours, workshops, blind tastings and home brewing demos.

 

 

Sandton Craft Beer Festival

Date: 05 October, 10am until late

Venue: 58 Wierda Road East, Sandton

The Sandton Craft Beer Fair & Music Festival brings 11 craft breweries from all over South Africa to Sandton to help celebrate the approaching arrival of summer.

Over 40 craft beers and ciders will make an appearance at the Sandton Craft Beer Fair & Music Festival, while top local bands and artists.

Delectable food will also be available from the various stalls planned for the event.

 

Bierfest

Date: 10th – 13 October 2013

Venue: Montecasio

The Bierfest Johannesburg presents an opportunity to South African beer drinkers to sample 3 Bavarian-styled beers brewed by founding partner SAB that are not normally available.

Available beers are Munich Dunkel, Krystal Weiss and Royal Bavaria.

Single tickets are accepted, seating can only be guaranteed for groups of 6, whilst groups of 12 will get their own beer bench.

 

Soweto Beer Festival

Date: Fri, 25 Oct 2013 - Mon, 28 Oct 2013

Venue: Shap Stadium, Mofolo, Soweto, Johannesburg, Gauteng

Soweto Beer Festival originated back in 1999 as the in-house event of Masakeng, one of Soweto’s famous dining and entertainment venues. Since then it has grown into one of Soweto’s biggest social events, attracting a diverse crowd of not just Sowetans, but also national and international tourists, who are attracted to Soweto Beer Festival to enjoy the vibrancy of the township and local artists. Over 40 beers from around the world can be enjoyed at the festival, backed up by good Soweto cuisine, the likes of pap and vleis, kota and magwinya.

 

Cape Town

We Love Real Beer

Date: 01st – 02 November 2013

Venue: The Old Biscuit Mill

The We Love Real Beer Craft Beer Festival was successfully held for the 4th time in 2012.

The festival is built on the success of the previous 3 We Love Real Beer Craft Beer Festivals and introduces varieties of craft beer from over 20 independent breweries across South Africa.

 

 

Bierfest

Date: 7th- 10th November 2013

Venue: Newlands Brewery

Bierfest is not a craft beer festival, however, it is a chance to sample non-mainstream German beers in what will hopefully be a fairly authentic Munich Oktoberfest atmosphere. Bierfest hits Cape Town from Thursday 7 November to Sunday 10 November at the Newlands Brewery, and will have on offer 3 Bavarian-styled beers brewed by founding partner SAB. Available beers are Munich Dunkel, Krystal Weiss and Royal Bavaria.

 

Cape Town Festival of Beer

Date: 22nd – 24th November 2013

Venue: Hamilton’s Rugby Club

Over 60 brewers will exhibit more than 200 beers, including limited edition brews crafted especially for the festival at this year’s event.

Both South African craft and main stream beers will be represented, in addition to beers from overseas. To accompany your beer drinking, the Cape Town Festival of Beer will include food stalls, live music and big screens on which to watch the rugby on Saturday night.

 

Durban

Bierfest

Date: 12th – 15th September

Venue: Suncoast Casino

Bierfest hits Durban from Thursday 12 September to Sunday 15 September at the Suncoast Casino, and will have on offer 3 Bavarian-styled beers brewed by founding partner SAB. Available beers are Munich Dunkel, Krystal Weiss and Royal Bavaria. Although single tickets are accepted, seating can only be guaranteed for groups of 6, whilst groups of 12 will get their own beer bench.

 

North West

The Annual Maftown Beer Festival

Date: 31st Aug- 01st Sep

Venue: Mmabatho Stadium, Mafikeng, Mahikeng, North West

4, 000 people attended the Maftown Beer Festival last year and this year it promises to be even better with a special focus on craft beer. Maftown Beer Festival goers can look forward to brewing demos, blind beer tastings and a beer garden in which to kick back and enjoy the vibe.
