Within just three years of opening its doors, SAB listed on both the Johannesburg and London Stock Exchanges, a bold move for a young company, and a powerful vote of confidence in South African industry. This milestone marked SAB’s first step toward building a business with global reach and local impact, one that would become a cornerstone of the national economy and a driver of opportunity across every province.

In 1935, SAB made a long-term investment in the people and land of George, establishing hop fields in partnership with Ohlsson’s to supply a fully South African brewing chain. Today, the region remains the heart of the country’s hops production, still supported by SAB. It’s a story of natural innovation, generational farming, and unwavering belief in South African agriculture, proving that with the right roots, you can grow anything.

In 2010, SAB launched the groundbreaking Zenzele empowerment scheme, the largest B-BBEE transaction in the country at the time. Through this initiative, over 40,000 South Africans, from taverners to truck drivers, became part-owners of the business. It wasn’t just about shares; it was about sharing in success. Today, Zenzele Kabili continues this legacy, proving that when South Africans own the future, the whole country grows.

Corona is best served with a slice of lime. But South Africa didn’t have a commercial lime industry, until SAB stepped in. In partnership with the Moletele community in Limpopo, SAB helped establish what’s now the largest lime farm in the country. It’s more than citrus; it’s jobs, land equity, and shared prosperity. Because every perfect pour starts with empowering the people behind it.

Since 2022, SAB has reaffirmed its commitment to South Africa’s future by investing R19.5 billion into the local economy. Confidence in the country, in its people, and in the power of local business to uplift an entire nation. That’s what long-term commitment looks like.
