In 2020, the South African Breweries (SAB) officially secured a local foothold in the glass manufacturing sector through Isanti Glass’s acquisition of Nampak Glass. This was a windfall to the local glass industry and provided economic and environmental hope to an economy torn between recovery and environmental sustainability.

OVER HALF A MILLION RAND IN TIPS RAISED FOR BAR STAFF OVER WORKERS’ DAY WEEKEND
Over the course of this past Workers’ Day weekend, Castle Lite managed to raise over half a million rand as part of their Tips on Tap initiative. The initiative focused on extending the enjoyment over Worker’s Day and paying homage to unsung heroes of the alcohol industry, South Africa’s hard-working bar staff.

CALLING ALL SOCIAL INNOVATORS: APPLICATIONS FOR THE SAB SHARP AWARDS 2022 ARE OPEN
SAB in partnership with the SAB Foundation, has established the SAB SHARP Awards. These awards target innovators, social entrepreneurs, institutions, students, researchers, social enterprises with innovative ideas or prototypes that empower women in at risk communities, either by assisting them to become economically independent or by addressing issues associated with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or Gender based violence.

SAB PROVIDES RELIEF FOR KZN FLOOD VICTIMS & FOCUSES ON THE FUTURE RESILIENCE OF ITS LOCAL OPERATIONS
In light of the extraordinary damage inflicted by flooding in KwaZulu-Natal, the South African Breweries (SAB) has pledged to donate towards assisting with relief efforts. Although SAB’s Prospecton brewery in Durban was affected by the flooding, SAB says these funds will go directly to relief efforts for the local community.

SAB AND THE RE-TRADE PROJECT CREATES A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR GQEBERHA
To help waste collectors in Gqeberha make a decent living through recycling, the South African Breweries (SAB) has partnered with The Re-Trade Project with the completion of a newly constructed Re-Trade depot, the only one of its kind in the city and a significant upliftment.

SAB AND UBER ENSURE RESPONSIBILITY REMAINS A HEADLINE ACT AT CHASING SUNSETS FESTIVALS
Every year, the April holidays see an unfortunate increase in South Africans driving under the influence of alcohol. Following a successful festive season, the South African Breweries (SAB) is once again partnering with Uber at its Corona Chasing Sunsets events by covering the costs of trips booked through the Uber App to all ticket holders.

SAB INVESTS R4.5BN TO IGNITE ECONOMIC GROWTH
In the wake of economic uncertainty and the need for recovery, The South African Breweries (SAB) has reaffirmed its commitment to ignite the South African economy as it pledges to invest a further R920m into Prospecton and Ibhayi breweries. This ramps up SAB’s total South African investment commitment to R4.5bn – adding impact to an industry that already contributes 1.3% of the national GDP.
