Clarens Brewery brews fine hand crafted beers and ciders in the beautiful village of Clarens in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains. Our brewer, Stephan Meyer, has a passion for craft beer and has been brewing full grain and pure malt beers since 2004 with an absolute dedication to quality and craftsmanship.
We brew 5000 litres per month of which half is bottled and half sold on tap in our brewpub (the first in the Free State). We also produce delicious apple, cherry and berry ciders from our own orchards.
Here are some of our brews:
Clarens Blonde
Light golden ale with sweet malty aromas and distinct biscuity flavour of malt with a light hop finish.
Clarens English Ale
Amber coloured ale, medium-bodied caramel malt flavour, hint of nuttiness and medium hop bitterness.
Clarens Red
Ale with delightful fruity hop character, with perfectly balanced toasty rich maltiness and a long, refreshing, smooth finish.
Clarens Stout
Dark, sweet and full-bodied ale with subtle chocolate and coffee aromas and a creamy head.
Clarens Weiss
Light, refreshing, spicy unfiltered wheat beer with banana and clove aromas and a light hop finish.
Red Stone Apple, Berry or Cherry ciders
Our ciders are light, dry and refreshing bursting with the flavour of either fresh apples, berries or cherries grown in the gentle foothills of the Maluti Mountains.
Brewery tours and demonstration brews and assistance in getting a brewery started are on offer by prior arrangement. Don't miss the annual Clarens Beer Festival the last weekend in February every year.
Our restaurant is open is 10 am to 6 pm weekdays and 10 am to 7 pm on weekends.
